"After Effects error: retrieving frame from video stream..." When Working with Vegas Video AVI Files
Issue
When you work with an AVI file exported from Sonic Foundry Vegas Video, Adobe After Effects 4.x or earlier returns one of the following errors:
-- "After Effects error: retrieving frame from video stream. Not enough storage is available to process this command. (3) (53::34)."
-- "After Effects error: retrieving frame from video stream. The parameter is incorrect. (3) (53::34)."
Solutions
Do one of the following:
Solution 1
<font color="orange"> Upgrade to After Effects 5.0. </font> For upgrade information, visit Adobe's Web site at
www.adobe.com/store/products/master.jhtml?id=catAfterEffects.
Solution 2
<font color="orange"> Open the AVI file in Vegas Video, deselect the OpenDML render option, rerender the file, and then import it into After Effects. </font> For instructions to deselect the OpenDML render option, see the documentation included with Vegas Video.
Additional Information
OpenDML is a DirectX format that expands the 2 GB file size limit of AVI files. Vegas Video includes an OpenDML render option that allows you to render AVI files larger than 2 GB. <font color="orange"> After Effects 4.x or earlier does not support OpenDML and therefore returns an error when you work with AVI files larger than 2 GB. </font> After Effects 5.0 supports OpenDML.
